Leslye Schaefer is the senior vice president of marketing and consumer products for Scholastic Media (SM), the only full-scale production, branding and merchandising division within the children’s publishing industry that successfully develops, produces and markets children’s media for the global marketplace.

A seasoned marketing veteran, Schaefer oversees the management, strategy and positioning of SM’s franchises in the consumer marketplace, including such top-rated media properties as Clifford The Big Red Dog, WordGirl, Goosebumps, I Spy, The Magic School Bus, and Maya & Miguel among many others.

Schaefer is responsible for strategizing and directing all marketing activities to support SM’s television programming as well as its videos, films, websites, audio, interactive, consumer products, and promotions. She leads Scholastic’s efforts in creating innovative and strategic marketing campaigns that target Scholastic’s key consumer and trade constituencies; directs the overall visual branding of SM’s media properties; and manages the development of merchandise lines, retail relationships, and strategic alliances.

Prior to joining SM in 1995, Schaefer was senior vice president of marketing and promotions for VH1 and worked for 15 years at VH1’s parent company, MTV Networks/Viacom.
